About MTS Forge

An independent forging shop, trusted since 1986

MTS Forge — Manufacturing & Technical Services, Inc. — is a family-run precision forging plant in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. For nearly four decades we have shaped steel, stainless and exotic alloys into components that hold up under pressure, heat and the highest expectations.

Our story: four decades of forging

MTS Forge was founded in 1986 by people who knew metal — and who believed a mid-sized American shop could out-work and out-care the big houses. We started with a simple promise: treat every forging like our name is stamped on it, because it is.

Nearly forty years on, that hasn't changed. We are still independently owned and operated, still built around a core of long-tenured forging associates, and still headquartered on Greenbelt Drive in Coatesville. What has grown is our range — from close-die and upset forgings to full-diameter rings, cylinders, contour forgings, flanges and heavy-wall manways.

Our advantage is a large in-house tooling inventory that lets us make shape rather than machine it out of solid bar. That means less material, less waste and a better price for the customer — without giving an inch on grain flow, soundness or strength.

How we work

Quality is not a department at MTS Forge — it is the way the whole shop runs, from the first quote to the packing slip.

ISO 9001:2015 quality

A registered quality management system (QAS International, Certificate No. US5024) governs every job, with a dedicated inspection and QC department signing off before anything ships.

Precision you can hold

Controlled grain flow, sound metallurgy and rough machining to tight tolerance mean the part you receive is ready for the next operation — not a rough approximation of it.

On-time delivery

In-house forging, heat treatment and machining under one roof keeps schedules short and predictable, so your program stays on track and your line stays fed.

A real partnership

We engage early, review your drawings, and advise on tooling and material to save cost. When you call MTS Forge, you reach people who know your part by name.

Our facility and quality control

Everything happens on one site in Coatesville: forging, normalising and heat treatment, rough machining, cutting, grinding, grit blasting and final inspection. Keeping the process in-house means we control the quality at every hand-off instead of trusting it to an outside vendor.

Our QC department inspects to stringent industry standards from initial design through final acceptance. Certifications, material traceability and dimensional reports back up every forging that leaves the building.

  • Dedicated inspection & quality control department

People who know forging

The single biggest reason customers stay with MTS Forge is the people. Our forging associates carry decades of hands-on experience, and that knowledge shows up in the grain, the finish and the fit of every piece.

We are proud to be an American manufacturer, supporting skilled trades and delivering components for programs that matter — nuclear, defense, power generation, aerospace and heavy industry. Strength in every blow, excellence in every piece.
